In short

  • Customers email when they can't see progress. Show it to them first.
  • Automatic SMS and email updates answer most questions.
  • Set honest expectations: delivery dates are estimates.

"Where's my parcel?" is usually the most common question a store gets after checkout. Each one takes time to answer, and most come from customers who simply can't see what's happening. Here's how to answer them before they're asked.

Step 1

Get tracking to customers quickly

Tracking numbers write back to your store automatically when you book, and the order is marked fulfilled, so nobody waits for someone to paste it in.

Step 2

Send updates at every milestone

Tranzit Group Australia sends SMS and email at dispatch, in transit and on delivery, so customers hear about progress without asking.

Step 3

Give them one page to check

A branded tracking page in your colours and logo shows where the parcel is, whichever courier carries it. What is a branded tracking page?

Step 4

Set honest expectations

Delivery dates are estimates unless a service is described as guaranteed, and tracking only updates when the courier scans the parcel. Say so on your shipping page, especially in peak periods.

Step 5

Chase the stuck ones for them

If a parcel hasn't moved for longer than you'd expect, email us the tracking number and we'll follow it up with the courier, so you can give the customer a real answer.

That's the aim. With a branded tracking page and automatic updates at every milestone, fewer customers need to ask where their order is.

Tracking only updates when the courier scans the parcel. If it hasn't moved for longer than you'd expect, email us the tracking number.

Customers should contact the store they bought from, which holds the order and its tracking details.
