A packing slip is the sheet that goes inside the box, listing what the order contains. It's easy to skip, but it saves time at both ends: your packer checks the order against it, and your customer checks the delivery against it.
What to include
- The order number, so anyone can match the parcel to the order.
- The customer's name and delivery address.
- Each item and the quantity ordered.
- Anything not included, such as an item on back order.
- How to contact you about the order or a return.
Packing slip, label or invoice?
The shipping label goes on the outside, for the courier. The invoice is the bill. The packing slip goes inside, for the people. Labels, manifests and packing slips explained covers how they fit together.
Printing them without the extra step
In Tranzit Group Australia, packing slips print in the same run as the day's labels and manifests, for thermal or A4 printers, so the paperwork for each order comes out together.
